"Born From The Dead" will be a unique, one-night-only event in Madrid bringing together two bands that best represent death metal: Bloodbath and Cancer. A night devoted to the purity, lineage, and brutality of the genre, where past and present converge in a single sonic ritual. This is not just another concert: it is a statement of principles, a tribute to the blood that has flowed through the veins of death metal since its origins.

Formed in 1998 as a tribute to the purest death metal by Jonas Renkse and Anders Nyström (Katatonia), along with Mikael Åkerfeldt (Opeth) and Dan Swanö (Edge of Sanity), Bloodbath were born with the mission of resurrecting the forgotten essence of the genre, drawing inspiration from both the Swedish scene and the Florida school. From the EP Breeding Death to now-classic albums such as Resurrection Through Carnage, Nightmares Made Flesh, and The Fathomless Mastery, the band has become an absolute reference in old school death metal. With the addition in 2014 of the legendary Nick Holmes (Paradise Lost) as vocalist, Bloodbath entered a new, even darker and more violent era, consolidated with Grand Morbid Funeral, The Arrow Of Satan Is Drawn, and the acclaimed Survival Of The Sickest (2022), a fierce return to the most direct, heavy, and bloodthirsty death metal.

Alongside them will be Cancer, true pioneers of British death metal, active since the late 1980s and responsible for landmark albums such as To the Gory End and Death Shall Rise, released in the early days of the genre. Their influence runs so deep that Bloodbath took their very name from the song “Blood Bath” by Cancer, thus closing a circle of blood, heritage, and absolute devotion to death metal. Born From The Dead brings together masters and heirs on the same night in Madrid, celebrating a genre that cannot be learned or imitated: it is carried in the blood.
